.: 2 wheels, 2 micks, 2 capes :. Journey 1?

When Mick and I started this venture, “Riding the Americas”, we were doing it just for us (how selfish), but as the planning progressed and more people became aware of our adventure the requests to be sent updates of what we were doing and where we were increased; the plea to be included on email lists grew too! The website was born. The web as an information, marketing and educational tool is phenomenal and we thought that others could benefit from our site, so we decided to each include a charity and a couple of schools to interact with.

My two boys completed their senior education at Christ College Breconhaving started at St Richard's Bredenbury. There are just over 300 pupils at Christ College , a number which enables them to offer a wide range of academic, athletic and cultural activities, whilst giving everyone the chance to know everyone else, and to develop a real sense of belonging. It provided a great all-round, dynamic and enjoyable environment for my boys in which to learn. Testament to the bond between them and their school is that they still gravitate that way for major ruby matches and social events.

Our aims are, firstly, for us to interact with the Geography department, but not exclusively; the whole school is welcome to play! Geography is probably the most obvious area that we can provide information and answer questions; but then I'm sure we will be experiencing some exotic and unusual menus too? We are even open to questions from the catering department!

Secondly, it a chance to raise awareness of the Christ College Foundation (Charity No 525744) which has recently received the backing of HRH The Prince of Wales, who has renewed his Royal Patronage for a further 5 years. The Foundation strives to offer more scholarships, and better academic, sporting and social facilities to as many young children as possible, regardless of their financial background.

The two charities we are supporting are The Pirates Trust “Just for Kids” and Macmillan Cancer Support www.justgiving.com/MickDaly-Hereford .
